You’ve failed an exam/assessment but it wasn’t a compulsory pass. Whew! Let’s take a deep breath and figure out how we can be proactive about this…
The important thing now is that you can identify some potential contributing factors, and put a plan in place to help you move forward and achieve what you need from this point onwards.
STEP ONE: Contact your COURSE Coordinator
Organise a meeting with your Course Coordinator of the paper in which you have failed an exam. You will be able to find their contact details on the Stream page for the relevant course. They will be able to talk to you about your options from here which may include Supplementary Exams & applying for Impaired Performance, and help you put an academic plan in place for the remainder of the course.
If you are struggling with the course content itself, ask your Course Coordinator or specific lecturers for extra resources, study material, or tutorials - never be afraid to ask them for extra help, this is their jobs and they are here to support you. Although your Course Coordinator will always be able to advise you of the best next steps in your individual situation, you could read up about the Supplementary Exam Policy & Information here.
Alternatively, reach out to friends and classmates and ask for their support - sometimes all it takes is the power of two brains together to ease the load.
STEP TWO: Explore the resources in the Wellbeing Hub and the Proactive Resources Page.
The resources that you will find in the Wellbeing Hub and the Proactive Resources Page will help you take a more a holistic view at your wellbeing in general and help you identify any areas of your life which may just need an extra wee helping hand. Sometimes there are lots of other things outside of Uni going in our lives and it’s our studies that so often suffer the consequences.
